NDS-NON DESTRUCTIVE SURVEYS
Nuclear Survey

Nuclear gauges count average hydrogen molecules. As we all know, hydrogen is the primary component of water. So areas that are wetter than others will read relatively higher on the nuclear gauge compared to dry areas. Unfortunately, many building components (especially roofing materials) also contain high levels of hydrogen. A technician must be able to determine a baseline and recognize "other" reasons why the gauge might show high readings.
